They said they understood, as did I. They drank in these words, I tried to forget. My sight has been a haze since I cracked my cocoon, making my ant friends memories. There again, an owl on an already bending branch saying 'I understand.' There's some way I catch the mice, how those that shed feathers ravage the thicket of beetles and spiders, grasshoppers and mosquitoes, That gives me pity for this ant hill. I squawk and screech as they struggle with a mantis. But I fear in vain. I see my pity misplaced. Their might reigns in this thicket. Their anthill, a mountain. Their tunnels, a fortress. But they have no battlement
